RE: reservations paid in advance then a price hike

In Broward County (which is Ft. Lauderdale area) the county parks raised their rates over the summer. Now a resident pays $30 a night and a non-resident pays $40 a night.......... At least it is water, electric & sewer....... Oh well, what ya gonna do, cept stay home & who wants to do that? Jo

RE: OOPPSS

When we decided to go with a fifth wheel, I really thought that automatic slider was the way to go. DH didn't want to spend the money & he wanted the manual slider. Because of what happens "thinking that IT IS OKAY to make that turn" is the real reason I ended up winning this one! It does cost more -but my peace of mind and OUR pocketbook thinks it was a good investment- Happy Camping Everyone, Jo

We have the pull rite slider - and we still watch what we are doing when we make a sharp turn. But the poster HAS a 16K slider- guess he didn't deploy it...? Jo

Let's just hope this trend keeps up! Let's keep our fingers crossed the bail out works........ I am doing my part by leaving my money where it is. I am NOT panicking. I know our country CAN and WILL recover from this financial crisis! Everyone keep the faith - I am! Jo

RE: South East Florida

Check CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, FL. This is a county park, and I think it is about $25 a night, full hook ups. I see large motor homes there all the time with toads too! Jo

RE: Diesel less $$$ than gas?

I saw one station here for $2.99 if you paid CASH though. Diesel runs about $3.98 - $4.21 a gallon........ Most gas stations are still charging about $3.50 a gallon though for gas..... Jo Ft Lauderdale

RE: Breakdown

I don't know what other experiences are with Good Sam ERS But we broke down on a Friday going up a mountain in No. Georgia. Transmission blew. They sent 2 trucks within one hour. One towed the fifth wheel to the state park. The other towed us to the transmission repair shop of our choice. The transmission place (Arne's in Blairsville, GA) examined the 'mess' and ordered us a Jasper tranny, installed it about noon on Monday and we were on our way. KUDOS to Good Sam ERS and Arne's ! Jo

RE: How many of us are waiting for the SOLD sign?

We plan on listing our house in January 09'. Doing the clean out the closets, yard sales and donations now. Still got a little sprucing up of the place then it's ready to list. Our area (South Florida) has a tremendous amount of foreclosures and short sales. They will probably go first - but NOTHING is going until money is freed up so the people can get a mortgage. The banks are having a hard time getting money, and now they are talking 20% down. If a house sells for $300,000 that is $60,000 down! Looks like NO one will ever sell a house again if that is the game the are gonna play. Give it three months - maybe by then things will start to fall into place. I can only hope. Jo

RE: Kissimmee Prairie Preserve, Fl.

At night it is SO dark it looks like you are in a cave -- the stars are stupendous! We can't wait to go back. Usually in the late fall or early winter so it is cooler. The roads are a packed gravel - but I doubt they will let you ride anything but a bicycle on them. No hiking trails that I can remember. Take ALL your food/drinks - store is 25 miles away! Jo

RE: Just got my recall notice (fridge)

I got my notice last week, and haven't even gone out to the trailer yet to check model number to see if mine is one that needs repair. I hope not - dealer is 2hours away! Jo

RE: Myakka River St.Pk, Florida ??

We just usually camp closest to the area where you launch your canoes/kayaks as it is a shorter drive. There is a little store there and if you don't have your own canoe, you can rent on there. Also there are boat rides on the lake. The alligators are awesome and HUGE! Jo

RE: Virginia "Personal Property Tax"

So I am moving from South Florida to Georgia, so should I just bend over now? I have a car, a truck and a fifth wheel! Guess in lieu of a mortgage payment I gotta get a personal property tax loan! Ah dang, just when I thought I was retiring! Jo
